Choosing Hand Pallet Trucks

A hand pallet truck, also called a pump truck, manual pallet truck or pallet jack is the easiest way to move goods that are on pallets.

When you are choosing a hand pallet truck, the first thing you need to consider is how heavy the load is that you need to transport. Our AM20 hand pallet truck handles loads up to 2,000kg in capacity, which is usually the maximum weight that you want to be pulling on a hand pallet truck manually. If you do need a little extra weight capacity, our AM22 has a capacity of up to 2,200kg and is suitable for this weight. Moving weights above this capacity usually benefits from an electric pallet truck option.

Next, you will need to consider the fork dimensions you require. The most frequently purchased fork configuration from Jungheinrich Ireland is 1150mm (long) x 540mm (width across fork) and this is ideal for moving Euro pallets. If you work with Industry-sized pallets, you will need a fork configuration of 1054mm x 540mm.

Lastly, you need to decide on the wheel configuration. Steering wheels are available in nylon, rubber or polyurethane, while fork rollers are usually available in nylon or polyurethane and can be either single or tandem rollers. Our most popular AM20 comes with polyurethane steering wheel and polyurethane tandem rollers.
